Teen Challenge for Women: Christ-Centered Healing from Addiction & Life-Controlling Problems

You are not broken beyond repair. You are not too far gone. You are deeply loved—and healing is possible.

At Adult & Teen Challenge (ATC), we understand the complex, painful, and personal nature of addiction in women. From trauma and toxic relationships to substance use, anxiety, or eating disorders—many women carry heavy burdens they were never meant to bear alone.

That’s why our residential programs for women 18+ offer more than temporary relief. We offer real hope, lasting change, and a new life through Christ.

Why Addiction Looks Different for Women

While men and women both battle addiction, research shows that women often face deeper emotional, relational, and psychological roots. Many women turn to substances or self-harming behaviors as a way to cope with pain, abuse, or abandonment. But the cycle only worsens over time—unless it’s broken at the root.

At Teen Challenge for Women, we take a holistic, Christ-centered approach that helps women heal emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Common Struggles Among Women in Addiction Recovery

Substance Abuse & Prescription Drug Dependency

Women are more likely to be prescribed opioids and anti-anxiety medications—and they often become dependent more quickly than men. Emotional pain, past trauma, and overwork can all lead to substance abuse that spirals out of control.

Teen Challenge doesn’t just treat symptoms—we walk with women through the deep healing process.

Trauma, Abuse & Codependency

Many women in our program have histories of sexual abuse, domestic violence, or toxic relationships. These experiences create shame, insecurity, and an intense fear of abandonment.

At ATC, women experience safety and support while learning to trust again—and to see themselves through God’s eyes.

Pornography, Sex & Love Addiction

While underreported, women also struggle with unhealthy sexual behaviors and emotional dependence on relationships. These addictions often stem from unmet emotional needs or past wounds.

Our recovery model helps women rebuild identity, boundaries, and self-worth rooted in Christ—not in attention or validation.

Eating Disorders & Body Image Issues

From disordered eating to obsessive fitness, many women are stuck in cycles of control and shame around their bodies. Culture tells women they must “look perfect,” but ATC helps them discover peace, purpose, and value beyond appearance.

Depression, Anxiety & Co-Occurring Disorders

Mental health struggles are often tightly linked with addiction in women. Instead of numbing the pain, Teen Challenge invites women into the process of true restoration and renewal through faith, therapy, and practical life support.

Why Women Choose Teen Challenge

Women come to Teen Challenge when they’ve tried everything else—and nothing has worked. Maybe you’ve been in rehab before, or maybe this is your first time reaching out. Either way, our message is the same:

Not at all. You don’t have to be a Christian to join. But our programs are unapologetically Christ-centered, and faith in Jesus is the foundation of everything we do. Many women find spiritual healing for the first time in their lives here.

Some Teen Challenge centers do offer mother-and-child programs, though availability varies by location. We encourage women to reach out to their nearest center to learn about housing options and family support.

Teen Challenge is a non-profit organization, and many of our centers operate on a donation-supported model. Costs vary by location, and financial aid or scholarships may be available. No one is turned away solely due to inability to pay.

Absolutely. Our women’s programs are designed to be safe, supportive, and structured. You’ll be surrounded by other women who are walking through similar struggles—with staff who are trained, caring, and mission-driven
