Amber’s Story

I met a young lady in September 2018 named Amber. She was sick and lost and needed a place to stay. I offered her my place to get better and to find her bearings. Unfortunately, she got sicker and sicker and entered hospice care in February 2019 due to liver failure from alcohol and drug abuse.

Amber loved to go shopping. Having limited income, we would shop at thrift stores. I knew about Teen Challenge and the good work they do to help teens with addiction problems, so we went there to shop. When the manager found out about Amber’s condition, she gave her a bunch of clothes at no charge. Amber was beaming and very happy trying on the clothes she got from Teen Challenge.

Amber had so much to live for. She was a loving mother of two beautiful daughters and was an artist too. Addiction does not care who you are or what you have done and sadly Amber passed on in June 2019. She was only 30. We miss Amber so much. Thank you, Teen Challenge, for caring about Amber and all the lost and hurting people out there.

We honor those who we have lost to the horrors of addiction through shared remembrances and messages of hope and support. You can share your own stories by clicking “Post a Tribute”. Tributes will be posted after being approved by an admin.
