The National Office of Adult & Teen Challenge is excited to announce Erica Carter, MA, has accepted the position of Curriculum & Publishing Coordinator. A New Jersey native, Carter was raised by her grandparents who instilled in her robust Christian values, a strong work ethic and dedication to family. Graduating college with honors, Carter received her Bachelor of Arts in 1997, shortly followed by a Masters of Education. Gainfully employed as a high school English teacher, it was not until age 35 that Erica realized that her life was crippled by an addiction to drugs and alcohol. As a result of “tough love” from her family and an actual intervention, she went through the Teen Challenge program at the Hoving Home in Garrison, New York.
“The Lord used the Hoving Home to not only deliver me from addiction but to birth me into a new life where He is my center and source,” says Carter. Her newfound freedom in Christ also resulted in a job offer at the Hoving Home after graduation. Over the course of 12 years, Erica worked as the Facilities Director, Principal of Education and, most recently, as the Associate Director at a Hoving Home in California. “As I move into a new season with Adult & Teen Challenge USA, I am forever grateful for the foundation and development that I received at the Hoving Home,” says Erica. “It was there that the Lord put in me a desire to “LIVE” – love, inspire, value, & encourage – people in their life walk with Christ.”
Carter begins her new responsibilities July 3 and will play an integral role in helping to develop new student curriculum. “We are excited to have Erica on board. She brings the educational background and practical experience that will help launch a new standard of excellence in the materials available through ATCUSA. Erica also demonstrates a clear passion to meet student needs through quality curriculum. We are honored to have her join our team” says Wendy Buttacy, ATCUSA Chief Learning Officer.
