New Course: “Understanding Addiction in the Family Context”

The Adult & Teen Challenge National Office has just published a momentous educational piece for families with loved ones struggling with addiction. This practical and insightful program for families of addicts is titled Understanding Addiction in the Family Context. In this program, licensed clinical and consulting psychologist, author, and international speaker Dr. Jared Pingleton addresses the physiological and psychological effects of addiction from a biblical perspective. Each of the four modules are designed to bring hope and equip families with helping tools for their loved one(s) facing addiction.

Reflecting on his time serving in an ATC center, Mitchell Easter said, “I have worked with hundreds of parents who placed their son in residential recovery programs to help battle addiction. In my conversations, I found that the majority of parents didn’t understand addiction in general or the factors that contribute to it. This program, Understanding Addiction in the Family Context, would be a great tool for staff members who want to communicate to families outside of the program what their loved one is struggling with inside of the program. This awareness will not only cultivate empathy but will also help families develop an understanding of how their actions can hurt or help their loved one.

This program will encourage families who want to be on the same page as staffers in our ATC centers. At a low cost of $50, ATC staffers can offer this resource to families who need information regarding the nature of addiction.  The course will help them to understand what will be required of them in order to help and not hinder their loved one’s success. Families will have a greater understanding of what the staff are trying to accomplish. For a limited time, this course will be offered on sale for $40. Our prayer is that this program will benefit centers in their ministry as well as bring greater understanding to families who have a loved one in an ATC residential program. The course can be purchased from the Adult & Teen Challenge online store.
