Counselor - Kansas City Girls Academy
Job Description/Summary: Kansas City Girls Academy, a Christian boarding school for at-risk teen girls ages 12-17, is looking for a Master-level Counselor who is experienced in Biblical Counseling and has a heart for teen girls . Counselors must possess excellent communication skills, listening skills, patience, and trustworthiness. Candidates must be willing to uphold Biblical principles. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to blend their clinical training with their biblical knowledge to help young ladies overcome their deeper issues and deal with trauma.
The Counselor will be expected to strive to work well with students, parents, and staff; to uphold biblical principles throughout the curriculum, and to model a consistent, daily walk with Jesus Christ.
Type of Candidate/Qualifications
- Master’s degree in counseling or related field
- Experience working with troubled persons struggling with life-controlling issues and working with their families as well
- Clinical experience is preferred but not required
- Must understand the practical application of Biblical principles
- Previous training and experience in Christian counseling
- A background check and pastoral or ministerial leader reference is required
- At least 21 years of age and a good driving record for the past 3 years
Position Responsibilities:
- Counselor is responsible for meeting individually with each student on a consistent, regular basis, following the organization’s standards for documentation of all counseling sessions. Counseling of students during emotional struggles and especially during crises.
- Counselors must demonstrate a commitment to honesty, loyalty, and excellence and understand the importance of confidentiality. Must strive to work well with students, parents, and staff alike, submitting to the administration’s authority and following all Teen Challenge guidelines.
- Counselors must be willing to work in partnership with other counselors and program managers to provide feedback and support for challenging cases as well as build out individualized program plans for students.
- Counselors are responsible for communicating with students’ families through the entire program.
