Ozarks Teen Challenge Advisor Job Description


Meet with student three times per month – (45 min session & 15 min. for progress notes)
– Provide Drug and Alcohol Counseling to Students who have substance abuse problems

– Provide Christian/Biblical Counseling to invite and guide student’s spiritual growth

– Ensure that any outside resources needed for appropriate treatment are accessible to student

– Ensure that all aspects of the students’ growth are being addressed regularly

– Initiate goals/treatment plans with student

– Ensure the student is staying focused upon the phase goals in addition to his

own personal goals.

-Facilitate Phase Group Teachings

-Oversee Completion of Student Phase Material

Complete the Student Advisor Comments & Ratings on Monthly Reports
-Review completed reports and forward on to the family.

Report major concerns to Program Director
One scheduled phone call per month with each family attached to your students to
Discuss students’ progress, Growth points & Potential, Major issues that need to be worked through as a family, coaching and counseling parents on their growth as it relates to their son, prepping, families for parent weekends, make sure pass worksheets are being

Done, initiate parent transition plan (starting at the at 8-month mark if not sooner), setting up any additional calls that may be necessary in emergency situations, and to preparing/following-up for/from family pass weekend.

Schedule additional conference calls with family as needed (especially during the
transition home)

Create transition plan with family & student
Remind Parent Contact to start Student Discharge Checklist (1 week out)
Maintain confidentially of records
Hotline any reports of child abuse
Be Present for Parent Teachings and Pass Weekends to teach, counsel, mediate, and support.
Teach/Facilitate Parent Teachings Prior to Pass Weekends every other month
Lead, preach, and teach during weekly Chapel services
Preferred Prior Experience:

– Quality Progress/SOAP Notes

– Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel


– High School Diploma

– Bachelors in a related field preferred

– 3+ years experience in youth ministry, youth service work, local church ministry, or other counseling, behavioral health, or ministry settings

– Minimum of Certified Reciprocal Drug & Alcohol Counselor (CRADAC) Credential when hired or willingness to attain credential through Missouri Credentialing Board upon hire

– AACC Member with qualifying credential or willingness to work toward credentialing through the International Board of Christian Care

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 – $15.00 per hour
