General Responsibilities:
The Executive Director of Development (EDoD) plays a central role in developing, implementing, coordinating, and innovating the fundraising and communication strategies of Global Teen Challenge. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the EDoD oversees all aspects of comprehensive and strategic fundraising plans and awareness-building campaigns (from ideation to implementation and cycles of improvement) that meet both short-term and long-term revenue goals. The EDoD spearheads an organization-wide culture of philanthropy, and champions the vision, mission, and goals of Global Teen Challenge.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Development and Fundraising
Lead all efforts related to individual and corporate giving, as well as foundation and government grants
Assist the CEO/President and Executive Board Chairman in developing and implementing a development strategy
Research funding sources, oversee development fund plans, and write proposals to increase funds
Develop and execute annual and long-term fundraising plans, employing best practices to maximize contributed revenue and provide for future sustainability
Evaluate and analyze the existing development programs and implement effective changes to increase overall development performance
Evaluate fundraising campaigns and activities and assist in creating fundraising solicitation materials
Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of restricted gifts, activities, and expenditures
Oversee the management of the donor database and ensure the accuracy of donor records

Major Gifts Development
Provide assistance and leadership to the CEO/President and Board members to build and maintain long-term relationships with donors and to cultivate effective and meaningful relationships with prospects that lead to measurable results. This includes direct involvement in the creation and execution of donor research, structured pitches, and related donor management tasks
Manage a personal portfolio of major individual, corporate and foundation donors
Liaise with Global Regional Directors and other key global leaders on specific development opportunities
Design innovative and high quality opportunities for donor involvement and stewardship, leveraging best practices for donor-centric fundraising

Strategic Communications
In partnership with the Director of Communications:
Oversee and participate in the preparation of high-quality, targeted grant proposals and reports that inspire deeper donor connection and investment
Ensure clear, accurate, and consistent reporting and communication between the Field/Regional Offices, Fund Development, and Communications departments, reviewing and tracking annual and long-term income and expenditure budgets
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the Executive Leadership Team, major donors, as well as presentations for the Board(s) of Directors on progress toward financial goals, and provide guidance and direction to achieve objectives

Experience
10+ years of progressive responsibility in fundraising with proven success in raising major gifts and at least five years in grant writing
Experience with personally cultivating and soliciting high-value supporters and directly engaging Chairman of the Board with fundraising efforts
Experience creating and growing fundraising programs, including demonstrated expertise in creating development strategies and research profiles, data gathering and interpretation, and external environmental analysis
Experience managing the grant creation process, including an ability to understand complex programmatic work and coach writers that translate work into funding proposals
Proven experience and proficiency of developing and maintaining a large and wide range of relationships, both externally and internally within an organization
Demonstrated ability to solicit and close major gifts

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Ability to work well with people of different ages, races, and faith backgrounds to develop meaningful relationships
Proven experience in designing enduring, scalable, and effective systems for sustainable development and fundraising that plan for interdependencies, risks and contingencies
Ability to serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team working on organizational strategy and planning
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, and the capacity to interact effectively with a broad range of individuals and organizations
Strong candidates will be rigorous, entrepreneurial, and highly strategic individuals
Ability and willingness to travel as needed
